I love watching movies like this... Im tired of watching slave movies. We live by a different set of rules. There are some films that explore criminal injustices, racism, and white supremacy that feel like they exist for the pleasure of some sick people to see black people be brutalized. This is not one of those films. Michael B Jordan, Brie Larson & Jamie Foxx do an outstanding job of conveying the pain, neglect, and conviction of their perspective roles.
Jordan plays the role of a recent Harvard law school grad who has decided to practice law in Alabama.
Larson, a white woman, accompanies him in his fight for equality and criminal justice. She plays her role well and does a great job of conveying emotion.
Foxx plays the role of a black man who was lied on about killing an 18 year old white woman and was given death row before his trial even began. I personally believe that Foxx was the show stealer because he commanded attention EVERYTIME he was on screen.
Just Mercy is tense, emotional from start to finish, and draws you in and doesn't let you go. It is important to note that the rest of the cast definitely bring their "A" game and make the story feel even more personal. Just Mercy is everything it set out to be and more.

Soun excitedly notes Ranma's achievement in hitting the Destroyer, when suddenly a cloud of smoke appears and seemingly engulfs the Destroyer and Ranma. Cautious, Ranma backs off and sees through a gap in the smoke that the powder packet has disappeared. Shampoo then explains that she put fireworks in the packets which explode when Ranma hits them. Akane remembers where Shampoo placed the packets and realises that they were all placed on the Destroyer's vital spots. She then shouts out to Ranma that she has to defeat the Destroyer without hitting his vital spots and then asks Ranma what she's going to do. However, Ranma reveals that she already hit all the packets, upsetting her. As the Destroyer falls to the ground, Shampoo tells Ranma that she shouldn't have helped Akane. As the Destroyer lands, Akane shouts at Shampoo for trying to pin the blame on her. Ranma, meanwhile, jumps towards Shampoo and asks for forgiveness from her, much to the confusion of Akane. Shampoo takes out another Nannīchuan packet and tells Ranma that this is the last one. Ranma quickly tries to grab it, but Shampoo moves out of the way before she can do so. Shampoo then proceeds to pour hot water over Ranma and tells him that if he wants it then he has to give her one more kiss. The Destroyer Revives Soun and Akane hear this. While Akane is left silent, Soun realises what this means and angrily asks Ranma if this means he's kissed Shampoo already, which Ranma outrightly denies as Shampoo asks him why he's so shy all-of-a-sudden. Soun then goes to Ranma and demands to know what exactly they did on their date. As Ranma panics at what Soun's thinking about what they did on the date, Shampoo says that just remembering makes her heart flutter. Akane grabs the Nannīchuan packet after Shampoo kicks it out of Ranma's hand. Just then the Destroyer starts to stand back up again, which gives Ranma the chance he needed to grab the powder packet from Shampoo while she's distracted. However, Soun tells Ranma he's not finished with him yet, allowing Shampoo to kick the packet out of Ranma's hand and remind him he won't get it until he kisses her. After Shampoo kicks the packet across the room, Akane catches it as it comes towards her. Ranma runs towards Akane, as Shampoo chases after him. The Destroyer then begins throwing more Dojo signs at the pair, which they avoid (Akane just stands still as the signs hit the wall around her. Ranma then sees a sign about to hit Akane, so kicks her out of the way while he grabs the sign. Akane then suddenly asks Ranma if he kissed Shampoo, to which Ranma replies that he didn't. This causes Akane to ask if Shampoo kissed him instead, but Ranma denies that as well, angering Akane into demanding to know just who he did kiss. The Lies Continue Shampoo's faux fantasy of Ranma preparing to kiss her. Shampoo then suddenly comes out with how Ranma told her he loves her. She then says that Ranma swept her up and describes his kisses like rain on parched earth. As Akane stands shocked, Ranma flips over a table in anger while declaring that that isn't what happened. Akane takes Shampoo's words for fact and lowly tells Ranma that it was him who did the kissing. Ranma is slightly angered that Akane thinks he would play with a girl's emotions just to cure his little problem. He then takes the packet from Akane and rips it up as proof of his position, much to the shock of the others. Ranma then thinks about how Akane thinks this even after he came to her defence. This sets Akane back, who begins to apologise to Ranma and then starts quivering and crying. As Akane does this, Ranma thinks to himself about how much of a dope Akane is as the packet he just ripped up was one of Shampoo's fakes. Akane then falls to her knees and begs Ranma for forgiveness and tells him she'll do anything to make it up to him. Ranma then tells Akane that she seems to have learned her lesson. He then tells Akane that to make it up to him, she has to give him her lunches for a month; do his homework for him and do something about her macho personality and musclebound body of hers. Akane agrees to the terms if it makes Ranma happy. Soun finds this situation interesting, as Kasumi asks Soun if he agrees that these are rather odd things for Ranma to request to make up for losing a cure for his curse. The Destroyer reveals the Nannīchuan packet in Ranma's hair, foiling Ranma's plan. Suddenly the Destroyer reappears and pulls out the real Nannīchuan packet out of Ranma's hair while calling him a liar. With he plan unravelled, Ranma in left in a panicked shock while the Tendos remain silent. Ranma then quickly kicks the Destroyer into the air while telling him this is none of his business, as the Destroyer flies off her calls Ranma a liar once again. Akane then dries her eyes and tries to say something to Ranma, to which Ranma's immediate response is to tell Akane just to say it. Akane then thanks Ranma for helping her. This worries Ranma slightly, who asks Akane if that's all. Akane says that she wanted to thank him before she says. Akane then hits Ranma while screaming "Ranma you liar. Ranma and Genma are left devastated when they learn the powder only works once. That evening, Ranma and Genma try the Nannīchuan Powder and jump into the Koi pond. When they remain male the two are overjoyed and don't want to leave the pond. Akane eventually tells them that they'll catch their death from the cold, but Soun and Kasumi tell her to leave them be since they're happy at least. Cerebral and slippery, the French writer-director Bertrand Bonello's new film Zombi Child isn't really a horror movie. Bonello wants his undead to provoke (mild) discomfort and (major) self-reflection, rather than shock or terror. So he uses pop culture's favorite brain-dead punching bags as an excuse to beef up our own noggins, in ways that will strike some viewers as too subtle and others as far too obvious. Given that Vodou (Voodoo) and zombies are the only things most white people already know about Haitian culture, a director from the nation that once colonized Haiti needs to do a lot of legwork if he wants to employ these elements in an anti-colonialist fable. Our story begins in 1962 Haiti. A young man (Mackenson Bijou) is buried in a cemetery, but he's later resurrected and sent to the sugarcane fields in a long line of shuffling, empty-headed guys, with no memory of the family who once wept over his grave. In the script the character is named "Clarvius Narcisse. a real-life Haitian man who was supposedly "zombified" for years. The opening scene shows a poison being prepared from the oils of a fish, one possible explanation scholars have offered for Narcisse's condition. Bonello cuts between Clarvius and his imagined granddaughter, Mélissa (knockout discovery Wislanda Louimat. She attends an all-girls boarding school in France in the present day, where bored students wander palatial hallways in-between humanities lectures and perform choreographed greetings in spotless red sashes. Mélissa is an anomaly at the school, both racially and behaviorally, and seems to float through class in a semi-conscious daze. She's quiet, and so is the film; it's slow, often languidly paced, and unconcerned with building any sort of tension or dread. Its longest stretch of dialogue comes when one of her teachers delivers a thorough lecture on France's tainted legacy of expansionism. That lecture scene is as clear a sign as any of where Bonello wants to take his ideas. Zombi Child is opening a path between the Caribbean nation and the colonizer it overthrew, a path that's powered by a mixture of guilt and fear, just as the magical elements of the story open up a liminal space between the living and the dead. Mélissa is carrying considerable trauma on her shoulders: Not only was her grandfather an enslaved walking dead, but she also lost both of her parents in the 2010 Haiti earthquake. All of this only serves to make her more fascinating to white classmate Fanny (Louise Labeque) who develops a strange obsession with her. Fanny is rooted in sheltered teen concerns, what the Internet likes to derisively call "first-world problems" exams, a tight-knit sorority, a boyfriend who's somewhere far away and may or may not be imaginary. When she hears about the awesome power of Vodou, her thoughts turn to: How could this help me? It's true the film needs Fanny to be a bore in contrast to Mélissa in order to carry its themes to the end, when the white girl's selfishness and cultural ignorance lead her to mess with forces she doesn't understand. Yet even with this awareness, having to watch a wooden plank idealize her exotic best friend for an entire film feels, frankly, a bit tiresome. We've seen this movie before. But Bonello, who burned up the festival scene in 2016 with the student-radicals thriller Nocturama, is far more concerned with mood than story anyway. The Haiti segments are spliced together with a delicate rhythm, in long, quiet stretches that allow us to find a sense of place and feeling: the gentle moon overhead, the lush fields that hide terrible exploitation. A poem Mélissa delivers to her wowed friends (with the refrain "Listen, white world" carries an undercurrent of rage. And then the style shifts rapidly in the film's Vodou-inflected climax, when the tectonic plates of the dead shift and the legendary underworld trickster Baron Samedi (Néhémy Pierre-Dahomey) rears his mischievous head. Clad in a top hat and white face paint, dancing with a devilish grin, the Baron is here to punish someone. But who? All this reanimation, zombie and otherwise, is rough on the soul, and the film is likely biting off more brains than it can chew. Yet by turning to Narcisse's story for inspiration, and by making the legacy of his "zombie years" multigenerational, Bonello has found deeper cultural significance in something that's until now mostly been framed as a weirdo dark-web curiosity. Haiti's rich history of revolution and rebirth is still in want of filmmakers willing to take it seriously. But at least this one returns the undead to their roots, before they themselves were colonized.

Beginning in Haiti in the early sixties, Zombi Child" deals with voodoo and is one of the best and most poetic horror films in many a moon. It is obvious from the title and the setting that we are meant to think of a much earlier film with a similar setting but that would appear to be where the comparisons with Jacques Tourneur's "I Walked with a Zombie" ends for in the next scene we are in comtemporary France and a group of schoolgirls are being taught French history in a very white classroom.
What follows is a deliciously unsettling movie that manages to encompass the pains of teenage romance with a tale of the 'undead' as a metaphor for colonialism and it actually works. I can't think of too many examples in recent cinema where two opposing themes have been as beautifully united as they are here. In some ways it's closer to something like "The Neon Demon" or the recent remake of "Suspiria" than it is to Val Lewton. Here is a film with a creeping sense of dread, we've all seen films in which schoolgirls are not as sweet as they appear to be) and the grand guignol finale is as spooky as a good horror movie should be. It also confirms director Bertrand Bonello as one of the most exciting talents working anywhere today.

Elviss Granddaughter Danielle or Riley great actress appears in this Horror movie, i also seen her in The mad max film Fury Road with Tom Hardy! Love Tom Hardy. This film is very unsettling. The more I think about it the sadder I get. After the film was over I felt horrible. It was very depressing, and a film has not touched me this much emotionally since Whiplash.
But this is a great film and I am glad I had the privilege of seeing it early at a local film festival. It portrays human cruelty and its ramifications very adeptly. The films does a great job at building tension and making you feel unsettled. The very cramped interiors of all the sets, the doll house, and the whispered prayers add to the eerie atmosphere. Riley Keough gives a great performance, and Alicia Silverstone was great in the opening.
Something's not quite right as the story unfolds, and its not what you think. The film fooled me and I liked that. Another great film from these two directors about bratty children.

MISSION: To bring help, hope and love to people of all faiths and ethnicities in the conflict areas, to shine a light on the actions of oppressors, to stand with the oppressed and support leaders and organizations committed to liberty, justice and service. OBJECTIVES: To inspire, train and equip people in conflict zones to bring positive change through acts of love and service. To provide immediate medical assistance, shelter, food, clothing, educational materials and other humanitarian aid in the war zones and to improve logistics and medical evacuation. To develop the Information Network of Burma that documents, reports and disseminates accounts of human rights violations and provides an early warning system of Burma Army attacks. To provide prayer and counseling for victims of human rights abuses and to support programs for women and children. To train, equip and sustain indigenous humanitarian relief teams in the field. HISTORY: The Free Burma Rangers were formed  during the Burma Army offensives of 1997, when villages were destroyed, people killed and over 100, 000 people fled their homes; over 1 million people are still displaced inside Burma.  In the face of the overwhelming force by the Burma Army, the Free Burma Rangers was formed with the idea that no one can stop people from giving love and serving one another. During this time the Ethnic Nationalities Seminar at Mae Tha Ra Hta was coordinated and supported by FBR; and the Global Day of Prayer was initiated after Dave Eubank met with Aung San Suu Kyi in 1996. The first team training took place in 2001, and 2005 saw the first training for full-time teams. Each step taken to grow the Free Burma Rangers has been at the request of the local ethnic leadership. Since 1997, FBR has trained over 250 multi-ethnic relief teams and there are 71 full time teams active in the Arakan, Chin, Kachin, Karen, Karenni, Kayan, Lahu, Mon, Naga, Pa-Oh, Shan and Taang areas of Burma. The teams have conducted over 800 humanitarian missions of 1-2 months into the war zones of Burma. On average around 1000 patients are treated per mission with 2, 000 more people helped in some way. The teams have treated over 500, 000 patients and helped over 1, 100, 000 people. FBR OPERATIONS: ACTIONS: The Free Burma Rangers (FBR) conduct relief, advocacy, leadership development and unity missions among the people of Burma. Relief: FBR teams provide emergency medical, educational, spiritual, material and general assistance to people who suffer under oppression in Burma. Teams move throughout the conflict and crisis areas to give aid and comfort and also conduct leadership training, as well as medical, educational, reporting and general capacity building for people inside Burma. Teams also document human rights violations and report to the relevant authorities. Priority of assistance goes to the Internally Displaced People (IDP) of Burma as well as to those whos villages have recently been attacked by the Burma Army. FBR teams stand in solidarity with those who suffer and assist people of all races and faiths. Advocacy: FBR reports regularly on the situation inside Burma, sending information to supporters, news media, other NGOs and governments. In addition, FBR supports the annual Global Day of Prayer for Burma. Leadership: In addition to relief and reporting, other results of the teams actions are the development of leadership capacity, civil society and the strengthening of inter-ethnic unity. The FBR conducts leadership development and communications training in order to strengthen civil society, build leadership capacity and develop communications. Communications tools such as radio broadcasts, cassette tapes, print media are used in the ongoing effort for reconciliation and unity. Ethnic Unity: FBR helps coordinate annual seminars between the ethnic groups of Burma as well as the pro-democracy Burmans. TRAININGS Northern Karen State: FBRs largest training, conducted in the fall, generally includes multiple ethnic groups and a one-month follow on mission, including the GLC school tour. Training includes both basic and advanced classes. Southern Karen State: training of Mergui-Tavoy FBR teams, generally conducted in late summer, lasting for one month. Shan State: training of Shan and occasionally Karenni FBR teams, conducted in the spring, lasting approximately 6 weeks. Other trainings: conducted as logistics, personnel and time permit, on invitation from specific groups. The Jungle School of Medicine-Kawthoolei: a medical school program to provide a one year training for beginning medics that includes a clinical setting. MISSIONS Currently there are 71 active Free Burma Ranger teams, each of which goes on approximately 2-4 missions a year. These missions are conducted in the teams home areas and are under the direction of FBR coordinators and local leaders. PATIENT REFERRAL FBR helps to manage patient care for select patients who are evacuated to receive advanced medical care. Additional languages are available below. 10 March 2019 On the cover of this years Day of Prayer magazine is Naw Moo Day Wah, whom we first met after she was shot by the Burma Army in 2001. She was eight years old then and when we met her again in January 2018 she was married and had a new baby. “Will the Burma Army attack again, will  I have to run again? ” she asked. Two months later the Burma Army did attack and she did run again. A few months later, we met Naw Paw Tha, whose husband, an NGO worker, was gunned down by the Burma Army in March 2018. She is in hiding now with her seven children and no justice has been done. Instead, the Burma Army continues to build up its forces near where she and over 2, 500 displaced Karen live in northern Karen State. We prayed with her in the jungle after her husband was killed and are helping her and her children. When we gave her a medal in honor of her husband she started to cry. This broke my heart and I asked God to help us. Over 25 years of working in Burma and still murders, shootings, and displacements like this go on. The Burma Army attacks its own people with impunity and there is no change in this. This is tragic and would seem hopeless except we know God cares and that the prayers of people change things. So as you read this years magazine, please pray and ask God how to pray. Please pray for love over hate, justice over revenge, freedom over slavery, reconciliation over unforgiveness. Jesus gives us the power to do this when we ask Him. In the midst of evil and suffering we do see Gods love shine through people as they choose to help each other in the face of great odds. God only has us do what He helps us to do. We do not have to and cannot help everyone, but we each can help those that God puts in front of us to help.
